Lebanon’s landscape is ideal for so many outdoor activities. The country’s beautiful nature;  mountains and valleys host lots of attractive hiking trails and offer amazing views for multiple activities. On the other hand, Lebanon’s coastline attracts all kinds of watersports and its rivers and grottos are perfectly suitable for adventure activities such as rafting, rappelling and caving. Between the month of December to April, when Lebanon’s mountains are covered with lots of snow, skiing and snowboarding become the most popular activities.

Here are some of the most popular areas for hiking: 

 

Qadisha Valley: The area is full of amazing landscape and old rock monasteries that can be explored.

Qornet es-Sawda:  Or the black peak in Arabic, located at only 9 km from The Cedars of Lebanon, it is the highest peak in the Middle East (3088 m). Hikers can enjoy a good trail of 12 kilometers each way. The area offers wide landscapes and stunning views. (Note that the fitness level should be medium to high)

Horsh Ehden Reserve
Located in a beautiful area full of cedar and pine trees, is the small and enchanting Horsh Ehden Nature Reserve. The reserve is and home to many birds, reptiles, and mammals. 

Tannourine Nature Reserve
starting from the main entrance in Tannourine el-Faouqa, the reserve offers several hiking trails.The trails vary from one to 4.5 kilometers in length, but can be combined into longer hikes. 

Yammouneh Nature Reserve
The remote Yammouneh Nature Reserve is a very popular destination in spring and summer located in a wide fertile valley surrounded by mountains on all sides. Its shallow fresh water pools attract a wide variety of flora and fauna. 

Mount Sannine: This area offers a nice hiking experience up to 2,628 m high summit of Jebel Sannine,  (hiking time about three hours).

The Baskinta Literary Trail:  The hike is about 24 kilometers long where we can experience dozens of landmarks related to famous poets

Shouf Cedar Reserve:
The Shouf Cedar Reserve is ideal for hiking. There are trails connecting the three cedar forests and the hikers can enjoy a beautiful view of the surrounding nature.
